Before the school year begins, I will communicate with my students and their parents or guardians. A letter will be sent home to parents that allows them to get to know me and gives them my contact information. The letter that is sent to my students will help them feel more comfortable with me so that they can start to become familiar with their new teacher.
I will be available to my students’ parents and guardians anytime throughout the school day by means of email and phone. They can email me at [email protected] or call the school to be transferred to our classroom line. After school, they can reach me at my personal number until 9pm.
A weekly email will be sent to the parents and guardians of my students on Friday that will give them a little summary of our week and introduce them to what will be happening in the week ahead. This is my way of keeping parents updated and informed. A quick email is easier for them to read than a lengthy letter sent home. It is also easier for them to respond to. This email will give them opportunities to quickly and easily communicate with me on a regular basis, and at the very least will allow them to keep up with everything that is happening in the third grade!
Sample Email: Parents and Guardians of Mrs. Clement’s 3rd Graders,
This week we had so much fun exploring nouns and verbs. We did some mad libs, feel free to ask your child to share theirs! We also started multiplying one digit numbers by two digit numbers, as you may have noticed in our math homework for the week. I have additional materials available to give your child more practice, please contact me if you would like that sent to you!
Next week we will be moving on to adjectives so that we can spice up our mad libs even more! You may introduce adjectives to your child this weekend, or you can subtly slip extra adjectives into your speech so that your child is familiar with common adjectives!
We are beginning a new unit in science this week. It is on weather on climate! At the conclusion of our unit, we will be going to WZZM 13’s weather forecast so that we can see predictions and studies of the weather put into action. I am still looking for a few more parent chaperones, so if you are interested in going please respond to this email and we can make arrangements!
Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns you may have! Have a blessed weekend! Justine Clement
